Luceda Photonics and CCRAFT are proud to announce the release of the first-ever Luceda PDK for CCRAFT’s thin-film lithium niobate (TFLN) platform. With this release, two new PDKs are now available: CLN600-CORE and CLN600-PLUS, making CCRAFT’s advanced TFLN technology broadly accessible to photonic integrated circuit (PIC) designers through the Luceda Photonics Design Platform.
CCRAFT is an industrial-scale TFLN PIC foundry, originating from CSEM, which has carried out years of intensive research and pilot production, delivering thousands of high-performance chips to partners worldwide. This release, therefore, builds on more than six years of research and pre-commercial offering of the technology.
These PDKs, with building blocks tested through more than 10 development cycles, unlock access to high-performance PIC design using the Luceda Photonics Design Platform, with a rich library of validated components including waveguides, MMIs, couplers, modulators, resonators, heaters, and bondpads. Luceda users can now leverage these building blocks as well as multiple waveguide cross-sections and metallization layers, supporting diverse applications such as optical transceivers, microwave photonics, and sensors.
The Luceda PDKs for CCRAFT also introduce advanced component modeling for selected components, including birefringence. Because the behavior of TFLN devices depends on crystal orientation, the model automatically uses layout information to determine performance, making it easier for designers to account for orientation effects during both simulation and verification.

Beyond design accuracy, the PDKs also address practical integration needs by offering chip frame template compatible with PHIX’s open packaging platform, streamlining prototyping and packaging. This allows designers to bring their circuits to packaged prototypes faster and with fewer iterations, accelerating product development and time-to-market.
