We are excited to announce the launch of a new addition to our family of partner integrations: OptiLUCEDA CoSim, a co-simulation tool developed by Optiwave in collaboration with Luceda Photonics. This integration enables designers to fully simulate their photonic integrated circuit (PIC)-based products in a unified system environment where they can leverage Luceda's layout and modelling capabilities of the PIC and the system-level simulation features of Optiwave.


No manual translation required. Designers can create their PICs in Luceda IPKISS using either standard PDK building blocks from any of the supported Luceda Design Kits or their custom devices. The layouted PIC is then simulated using Luceda's circuit simulator, while OptiSystem takes care of the lasers, DSPs, fibers, and other system-level components, providing a complete system simulation. By embedding circuits created with Luceda IPKISS directly into the OptiSystem environment, designers can simulate end-to-end links seamlessly, eliminating the need for additional data input.

How it works:

  1. Design your PIC in Luceda IPKISS: Start by designing your PIC in Luceda IPKISS. Use either standard PDK building blocks from any of the supported Luceda Design Kits or your custom devices that have been modeled with our device simulation links.
  2. Automated import into OptiSystem: Load your IPKISS circuit into the OptiLUCEDA CoSim component within OptiSystem and connect it to the required system-level components. No manual translation is required: OptiSystem communicates with IPKISS automatically.
  3. Co-simulate your PICs: You're now set to run system-level simulations! By combining Luceda's PIC-level simulation with system-level components from OptiSystem, you can analyze your PIC design trade-offs within a complete optical system digital twin. Explore applications such as optical transceivers for coherent communication, quantum key distribution transceivers with various algorithm protocols, LiDAR systems, demultiplexers based on arrayed waveguide gratings (AWGs), and more!
