Luceda Photonics is excited to announce the latest release of the Luceda Photonics Design Platform, Luceda 2025.03, bringing significant enhancements to empower PIC designers worldwide. This release introduces official macOS support, a brand-new product, Luceda Circuit Analyzer, a redesigned Luceda Control Center, performance improvements, and new tutorials added to Luceda Academy.

Key Highlights of the Release: 

1. Official macOS Support: Bringing Luceda to Mac Users

  • Luceda is now officially supported on macOS, allowing users to harness the full power of our photonic design capabilities with native execution on Apple Silicon devices (M1 and later).
  • Leverage the full power of Luceda IPKISS, AWG Designer, IP Manager, and Link for Tidy3D on macOS now.

2. Introducing Luceda Circuit Analyzer: For Advanced PIC Analysis 

  • Luceda Circuit Analyzer is an advanced tool designed for evaluating circuit performance under real-world conditions and optimizing designs for higher yield and reliability. Luceda Circuit Analyzer bundles advanced circuit analysis methodologies: Corner Analysis, Monte Carlo Analysis, Layout-aware Monte Carlo based on wafer maps, and Tracer Analysis.

    • Corner Analysis enables the designer to calculate circuit-level corners based on component-level corners. This makes it easier to calculate component specifications from circuit level requirements, identifying the most sensitive parts of a circuit and easily compare different circuit architectures against each other. 
    • Monte Carlo Analysis allows the designer to quantify the distribution of circuit-level figures of merit based on statistical behavioral models of the components. This helps define component specifications from circuit-level yield requirements while also allowing quantified yield predictions using validated statistical component models from foundries. 
    • Layout-Aware Variability Analysis allows designers to take into account special correlation of the variation of individual components based on wafer maps (temperature, process variations, model parameters). This helps make more precise predictions of yield and allows optimizations of the layout to reduce the variation. 
    • Tracer Analysis enables users to track how light flows on the PIC under different operating conditions. This facilitates the visual interpretation of nominal and spurious light paths, helping identify the most sensitive parts of the circuit.

  • New features are included in this update:
    • Drag-and-drop support for installing design kits and licenses.
    • Quick access to Design Kit documentation directly from the LCC.

4. Performance Enhancements: Faster Visualization and GDS Export

  • Optimized code base to deliver noticeable performance gains, reducing iteration time and enhancing productivity:
