Dendermonde, Belgium and Edmonton, Canada – 8 April 2024
Luceda Photonics and Applied Nanotools (ANT) are proud to announce the release of the Luceda PDK for the ANT NanoSOI™ silicon photonics foundry service. The release of the PDK enables support for the design of photonic integrated circuit (PIC) layouts leveraging the Luceda Photonics Design Platform, for submission to ANT’s 220 nm silicon multi-project wafer (MPW) fabrications runs. This initial release provides Luceda’s customers access to critical components such as vertical grating couplers, edge couplers, waveguide splitters/couplers, and microring resonators for the C-band wavelength range.
Since 2016, Applied Nanotools has been providing a fast turn-around prototyping service for silicon photonics using its 100 keV electron beam lithography (EBL) technology. The NanoSOI™ prototyping foundry service enables critical feature sizes as small as 70 nm to be fabricated, enabling PICs with sub-wavelength components to be prototyped on a rapid timeline. EBL stitching errors and line-edge roughness are reduced using ANT’s proprietary fabrication techniques, and propagation losses are routinely demonstrated to be as low as 1 dB/cm (C-band). Thermo-optic devices can be fabricated with the tri-layer metallization process module, available within MPW and custom fabrication runs. Design rule checking (DRC), design examples, and an online submission system are available for all users to access through the NanoSOI Design Center.
