The concept of “design for testing” is key to standardizing the testing process for PICs. In essence, it involves designers factoring in test requirements and restrictions from the very beginning of the PIC design process. However, putting this concept into practice can be challenging. Aligning the requirements of foundries with those of testing partners often introduces potential pitfalls.
