Imec and Ghent University have their heart set on IPKISS

Imec and Ghent University, together with Medtronic and other CARDIS project partners, develop a unique photonic-based medical device for the screening of arterial stiffness and the diagnosis of cardiovascular diseases.

Imec and Ghent University used IPKISS to design the photonic chip.

The prototype can be used for the easy screening of arterial stiffness and for the diagnosis of cardiovascular diseases such as arterial stenosis and heart failure. The hope is that in the future such a device can be used by general practitioners and can have a preventive and life saving impact.
